Hello and Goodbye | Ugly Betty 4:20 | Rooftop Movie Night
Ugly Betty, the funniest and certainly the gayest comedy ever to grace the airwaves, was canceled by ABC after four seasons and this is the finale. This show had everything going for it, except the brainless, potty-mouthed cartoon characters who populate TV comedy. Which, I guess, weakened the bottom line.
UB was smart, urban and queer with complex, fully developed characters you could really care about. It moved effortlessly between the hilarious and touching with panache and polish. Betty will be missed by many, but I arrived midway in its run so I have the early episodes yet to enjoy. Goodbye and hello again.

All the World's a Stage | Ugly Betty 4:16 | Rooftop Movie Night
Hulu explains the episode this way ... Justin finds himself in an unexpected love triangle; Betty falls for a playwright she is profiling for Mode; Wilhelmina has an epiphany. And adds the tag ... gay kiss.

Fire and Nice | Ugly Betty 4.15 | Rooftop Movie Night
Betty's entire family moves in with her after their salon/house burns down. Poppi and Justin both suspect they might have started the fire, but Hilda has heated suspicions about the Telurcios. Mark St. James and Justin have a heart to heart. Wilhemina reconnects with an old flame. Things heat up between Hilda and Bobby.
Daniel gets hot under the collar and discovers he has a long lost brother. Amanda totally has the hots for Claire's love child, although she and Daniel are currently 'fun buddies'. Betty dates a highly annoying fireman to speed the Suarez fire insurance settlement and stop the disaster they're making of her life (she gets thrown off the Lady Gaga account when Poppi slips an omelette in her laptop).
The Telurcio and Suarez families meet for Pasta Puttanesca ('whore sauce', Hilda calls it) at Betty's apartment and tempers flare. We finally learn who actually started the fire. Clue - who's the world's most flaming klutz?

Janice Cawyer wrote this on Hulu last week.
Another good show canceled. I just read this morning that ABC was canceling Ugly Betty due to ratings. Of all the junk shows that are on TV, its a shame when a show is so sweet and that carries such a wonderful message of optimism is canceled. I love all the characters, even Wilhelmina. I understand that networks must make money, but I wish they would rethink their decision. I will miss this show.
We will too. One of the wittiest and most touching shows ever on TV with characters you could really care about. Great ensemble - scripts, cast, the whole package. Too bad.

30 Rock Boston | Rooftop Movie Night . 3
The always unfunny NYC-based 30 Rock TV show visits Boston on a clueless class trip with totally humorless results. Or something.
