Rebuilding our Twitpic account so that the cool new embedded portfolio feature in the Journal reflects the best of our photography and updates nicely as good new work comes along.
A day taking care of business and chores at home. Rain threatened but never arrived. Reading Dr. King's autobiography between tasks all day long. A constant inspiration. Did almost my whole long todo list, and have a jump on the remaining items.
Riding by Bournside Street today something rang a bell - that's where the 2005 Graveside Massacre took place. Checked, sure enough at #43. Called the Melville neighborhood of Fields Corner. A few blocks away in our generally peaceful Dot hood. If I recall correctly Rev. Eugene Rivers lives next door.
Checked the house out this morning. A large, handsome middle class Victorian opposite Town Field. The owner sold it and moved away soon after the shootings. Now me, I wouldn't go down in the cellar. I'm not superstitious - 'when you believe in things you don't understand - but a trauma like must linger, if not in one's imagination certainly. Sprays of fake red roses on the pillars of the porch flanking the steps.
Quote of the Day
Counsel woven into the fabric of real life is wisdom.
Walter Benjamin
